Boar meat is from an entire male pig which has been used for breeding or is over one year old. It is usually a much leaner meat, though can at times also be fatty. Boar meat is usually darker in colour than traditional pork.(Traditional pork is from animals around 6 months of age).

Note that there is up to a 20% fat allowance in boar chunks depending on age.
